To provide that section 6248 of title 10, United States Code, shall not 
      apply to an award of the Medal of Honor to Richard G. Perez.

   Mr. Gene Green of Texas introduced the following bill; which was 
              referred to the Committee on Armed Services

                                 A BILL


 
To provide that section 6248 of title 10, United States Code, shall not 
      apply to an award of the Medal of Honor to Richard G. Perez.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,
That (a) notwithstanding section 6248 of title 10, United States Code 
(relating to time limitations in awards of certain medals to members of 
the naval service), the President is authorized to award the Medal of 
Honor in the name of Congress under section 6241 of such title to 
Richard G. Perez (service number 2251881), for acts of gallantry and 
intrepidity while serving in the United States Marine Corps on January 
7, 1967, in the Republic of Viet Nam.
    (b) The President is requested to provide an opportunity for 
Richard G. Perez to present evidence showing why he should be awarded 
the Medal of Honor.
