Submission for OMB Review; Comment Request.

    The Department of Commerce (DOC) has submitted to the Office of 
Management and Budget (OMB) for clearance the following proposal for 
collection of information under the provisions of the Paperwork 
Reduction Act (44 U.S.C. chapter 35).
    Agency: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
    Title: The GLOBE Program.
    Agency Form Number(s): None.
    OMB Approval Number: 0648-0310.
    Type of Request: Revision of a currently approved collection.
    Burden Hours: 770 hours.
    Number of Respondents: 1,062.
    Average Hours Per Response: 20 to 80 minutes depending on survey/
assessment.
    Needs and Uses: The GLOBE (Global Learing and Observation to 
Benefit the Environment) Program is an international environmental 
science and

education program that brings together students, teachers, and 
scientists from around the world to study the global environment. The 
students collect environment (atmospheric, hydrological, biological and 
geological) measurements in their communities, with the guidance of 
trained teachers, and reporting their findings to Federal scientists 
over the Internet.
    This provides GLOBE Program managers and staff vital information 
needed to enhance the quality of the program and guide its program 
improvements. The information will also ensure that the GLOBE Program 
continues to be implemented to carry out its mission and enable 
evaluation of the program in many areas.

    Frequency: Semi-annually.
