The proposed Settlement Agreement is between the United States and the purchasers of the Debtor's manufacturing facility in Elmwood Park, New Jersey. The purchasers are Marcal Paper Mills, LLC and Marcal Manufacturing, LLC (``Purchasers''). The proposed Settlement Agreement will resolve certain matters related to the potential liability of the Purchasers under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (``CERCLA''), 42 U.S.C. 9601 et seq. Pursuant to the proposed Settlement Agreement, the Purchasers will undertake steps to remediate environmental contamination at the facility and will pay $1,500,000 to the United States. The Department of Justice will receive for a period of thirty (30) days from the date of this publication comments relating to the Settlement Agreement.
